Happy Saturday! Hope you had a great week!
It's time for another Spark Student Motivation Saturday! There were so many great ideas last week, I can't wait to read more!
Directions for Spark Student Motivation Saturday: We all have techniques that work in our classrooms and this is going to be our place to share our magic tricks! Every teacher needs a bag of tricks! Each Saturday you can link up to share ONE idea/tip/incentive you use in your classroom to motivate your students. I want it to be quick and easy for you to link you up each week and this will give us weeks of ideas! It can be an idea you've used recently or with a different grade level, something someone else has used, individual student motivator, or a school wide incentive. What do you do to motivate or encourage your students? Choose any topic you want to share about, here are some possible topics, but not limited to:
Behavior
Completion of Homework
Participation
Reading Counts/Accelerated Reader
Getting Along With Others
Studying
Returning Forms
Academics
ANYTHING!!!
Basically ANYTHING you do in your class that is EXTRA and gets kids excited! No idea is too simple, sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference! The possibilities for this linky are endless! I can't wait to see what everyone does in their classrooms! I think this time of the year is a perfect time for this linky especially with spring fever-we all need a bag FULL of magic tricks!!
Now for a NEW magic trick from my class...sometimes I feel badly about posting a product on a linky party, but I had to share this successful and innovative incentive I have for my class-they're going crazy over it and I'm really proud of it! (Please excuse the "wall footage"-just wanted to give you an idea of how these tickets work).
Sorry the video is only of my students' voices-but you can "hear" their excitement right? (Does anyone else hate the way their voice sounds on a video??!!) I just made these Scan to Win Reward Tickets a few weeks ago and they've already made several appearances in my class! For this particular video it was used for a weekly drawing, but when I first introduced the tickets to my class I passed them out randomly for great behavior, deep thinking, helping another classmate, etc. just to get them excited about this new incentive! Now, anytime someone does something "good", a student will say, "Mrs. Miller, I think he/she should get a "Scan to Win"!! They love the scanning part and the other students can't wait for the reveal. (They like to show them under the document camera so everyone can see!) They use my phone to scan (free QR reader app) their tickets.
Of course, after I made them I let them sit on my desk in students' view for a few days...I like to build suspense! Every student who came to my desk was like: "What are those for?" Are we using those in our class?" Are those prizes for us?" I just shrugged and said, "You'll have to wait and see..."
Next week I plan on using them as a motivator for them to do their best during testing...I tell them I'm taking names of students I see looking back and double checking their work!
If you would like these tickets to make an appearance in your classroom, I'm offering 20% off this product until Monday!
OR
You can PIN TO WIN!! Two easy steps:
1) Pin the Scan to Win Reward Tickets on Pinterest
2) Leave a comment with your email (if it's not already set up with your comments) and the Pinterest ID in the comment (all you have to do is copy the URL after you pin it to your board and then paste it into the comment section).
I will choose two lucky winners by random generator to use this motivational tool in their classroom on Saturday evening.
***Don't forget to grab my button and link back to this post. Why don't we share some blog love and follow/comment on at least one other post while we're here? I can't wait to see everyone's great ideas!
